Fish and Visitors Smell After 3 Days
Mike's grade school friend is staying with us for 8 days. Eight days!! Talk about disrupting the family life. It's hard to describe this character. He is 39 years old, single and did not finish his college degree. He is a blue collar worker, reads a lot of history books and loves to eat. He is also on a shoe string budget which means he rarely offers to pay for anything.
When a guy is single for this long, there are valid reasons. I haven't quite been able to put my finger on it yet, but he is odd. For instance, there are really bizarre things about him that make the listener annoyed after a while. He talks like he knows everything! He brags about how popular he is in his field, that people request him for projects, etc. He doesn't know how to volley a good conversation. I get very irritated listening to him after a while. I wind up tuning him out.
Sometimes, I think Mike grew up in a very bizarre environment. All his friends are similar in matters of intellects...in that they don't really have one. I don't even find them witty or charming to say the least. They are all quite egocentric and defensive. Talking to them is as easy as fingernails on the chalkboard.
I hope he leaves before I start baring my fangs. I'm already feeling cramped with toddlers and dogs. I don't need an immature bachelor on my back for eight days. I was hoping my personal trainer found him somewhat attractive enough to take him out on a date but she hasn't called so I'm assuming she didn't find him interesting either.
Neither do I....for that matter.
